This was an inspiring book that had mini biographies on famous who were adopted A few were Gerald Ford Steve Jobs Johann Sebastian Bach and Faith Hill famous people who were A few were Gerald Ford Steve Jobs Johann Sebastian Bach and Faith Hill thought it was well written and interesting It eminded me a bit of Eric Metaxas Seven Men and Seven Women books In fact Eric Metaxas writes the introduction A few people I would like to ead longer biographies on It was written with a Christian worldview so someone who is not Christian might not appreciate it as much In between were mini chapters explaining the history of adoption Included was a mini chapter on embryo adoption that I was just made aware of I had no idea that IVF leaves abandoned embryos most of which are destroyed The first embryo adoption was done in 1997 and there are perhaps a million frozen embroys waiting to be adopted I found this very disturbing from ancient and biblical history very disturbing From ancient and biblical history current events Paul J Batura presents a pantheon of the adopted in his book Chosen for Greatness Johan Sebastian Bach John Hancock Leo Tolstoy George Washington Carver Babe Ruth Art Linkletter Gerald Ford Nelson Mandela Dave Thomas Nancy Reagan Tom Monaghan Newt Gingrich Scott Hamilton and Faith Hill He posits that the individuals profiled succeeded not in spite of their adoption but ather because of it and that their adoption changed not only their story but the pages of history as well Adoption is not only ethical it s biblical In Isaiah 117 we are commanded Uphold the ights of the orphan In James 127 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world Embryo adoption dates back to the birth of Christ Matthew 1 says Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place this way Jesus birth was the first IVF His adoption is the one that foreshadows our own adoption in Him She was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit As I see it embryo adoption is to be with child as a gift from the Holy Spirit For that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken We are living in the days of Herod the Massacre of the Innocents where abortion uns Lauter alte Akten.
