Ut please read Girls on the Verge it hits on everything this book didn t Wtf is wrong with these authors This is a horrible concept that lorifies ending human life No matter the circumstances a fetus is alive and deserves to continue to be alive Lots of loving couples waiting to adopt a baby Awful and sad it s telling young Making Sense of Leadership: Exploring the Five Key Roles Used by Effective Leaders girls that in order to move on with an education you mustet an abortion Very anti women mind set We don t have to kill our babies to succeed in life This book makes women look weak I m not surprised a man did help write it Unpregnant is a weird book and no not in a ood wayTo clear up a few things because I know this uestion will be coming to me in the comments once I leave this book a 2 star review I am pro choice I don t really have any deep thoughts whatsoever on what the status of a fetus should legally morally or ethically be and I have no problem with people choosing for themselves what they think is right whether that is to support or not support abortion or to et one themselves or notWith that little politics song and dance out of the way I *really found this book to be unlikeable It was like a feminist wannabe uentin Tarantino story or *found this book to be unlikeable It was like a feminist wannabe uentin Tarantino story or It wasn t funny and it wasn t particularly clever either Actually I m not entirely sure what the author was Gandhi Churchill: The Epic Rivalry that Destroyed an Empire and Forged Our Age going for here only that I found it an extremely weird story with a whole host of mostly one dimensional characters The plot of Unpregnant follows Veronica Clarke airl whose jackass of a boyfriend has Les Innocents gotten her pregnant deceptively to this book s credit at least it points out why interfering with a condom and being deceptive with birth control is wrong Veronica has a lotoing for her She s a valedictorian prom ueen Christian basically as wholesome as a loaf of Wonder Bread and a pregnancy is obviously I Was A Stranger going to interfere with her educational plans but toet an abortion she ll need to travel to the nearest available place for it which happens to be uite far away With this in mind Veronica enlists the help of a very unlikely source ex friend Bailey Butler in what turns into a uirky and unpredictable road tripWhile this seemed to me like the kind of story I might enjoy I actually found that it was extremely forced and clich Maybe twenty years ago it might have been roundbreaking It s a little late to the party with its controversial theme if abortion actually still shocks anybody in this day and age or inspires a reat deal of deep thought I would be extremely surprised Alright to be fair I m Canadian I learned about abortion in a non biased public school health class because we re a bit progressive on the topic of women s choices but still even in the southern US I have a hard time believing that this journey would be that bizarrely covert and clandestine I ve seen and read uite a few stories on other polarizing subjects The Lives of Stay-at-Home Fathers: Masculinity, Carework and Fatherhood in the United States gay rights for example which follow similar plots and feature similar characters I could still enjoy a clich story if I liked the characters but they were too one dimensional for the most part to even be remotely interesting or they didn tet enough time in the story to really et to know them a whole lot Veronica in particular wasn t just one dimensional she was also extremely unrealistic as a character and reminded me of a irl from a 1950 s afterschool film rather than a modern teenager It s so bad that at one point her friend even points it out to her in the story itself and of course the character pushes the rebellion thing and all to prove otherwise for readers which comes off as fake and awkward "Bailey as a character serves as a complete opposite to Veronica s strict religious upbringing The two rew apart over time "as a character serves as a complete opposite to Veronica s strict religious upbringing The two rew apart over time the past and are now 1,000 Awesome Writing Prompts getting to know each other again out on the open road which I llive a star for because there were points at which this rekindled friendship was very effective but there are times where it also feels very forced and oddly paced Go figu. The closest place she can legally et one is over nine hundred miles away and Veronica doesn’t have a car Too ashamed to ask her friends or family for help Veronica turns to the one person she believes won’t judge her Bailey Butler Jefferson High’s own little black cloud of anger and snark and Veronica’s ex best friend Once on the road Veronica uickly remembers nothing with ,

Re too that as a lesbian Bailey is stereotyped as the bad A Sting in the Tale girl rebel who pushes the envelope in Bible Belt America The book is a situation of out of touch adults trying to write modern teenage characters It s about as awkward as your mom and dad playing 1970 s disco music at your sixteenth birthday party while all your friends cringe at it The Christianood irl one bad and the edgy lesbian rebel is a duo older than I am in pop culture and I m twenty one Let s move on from those tired old character tropes especially in a time period where we re supposedly trying to Devil's Red Nickel get away from that thingI really didn t find this book funny either and not only because of its forced uirkiness and unrealistic misadventure I fail to see how the subject matter of airl being deceived by her boyfriend into thinking he used proper protection Social Class in Contemporary Japan: Structures, Sorting and Strategies getting pregnant and having to drive from state to state looking for an abortion clinic to be amusing Moreover if a lack of abortion access for women andirls is such an important topic it should be treated as such In Unpregnant it s written as an adventure of the underdogs screwing over conservative Christian America by doing something taboo not as an important and serious choice for somebody to make It does nothing to reflect why abortion access and reproductive rights are so important Rather it ll piss off those who we can expect to be offended by the topic and it almost Clubland UK: On the Door in the Rave Era glorifies this society where abortion access is such a struggle for the adventurous backdrop I really don t consider this struggle to be either comedic or adventurous just rather depressingI wouldn t say that Unpregnant is terrible but its message is heavy handed its characters could have used a lot development and it s not an overly original concept It might be worth reading if only to set the scene for a discussion on responsible sex and women s reproductive rights but as a fictional book it s pretty shallow I loved this book It is essentially Super Bad with female main characters but instead of trying toet to a party they re on a road trip to an abortion Even though the topics discussed throughout the book are heavy and serious there s this amazing humor and report between these two female characters that you almost forget at times where they re headed and just enjoy the ride That being said there s open conversations about things such as religion abortion female rights and other Southern values showing the multisided views to each and not painting anything as black and white rather on what s right for different people I just did not like this at all I didn t like the charcters and actually hated a few the relationships felt underdeveloped and the plot was just a run on joke I appreciate that the authors were John Flynn's Double Wedding Ring Step-by-Step Workbook going for a light hearted comedy when dealing with a heavier topic but literally nothing in the story made an impression or impact on me It went from one outlandish adventure to the next stolen cars attempted cow tipping stip clubs and a little BE And yeah it was kinda fun but with no real emotionalrounding if felt wasted and one dimensional I do think the abortion plot is kinda The Book of Tapas glossed over and used as a plot device to really focuses on the reconnected friendship between Veronica and Bailey and while I always love a friendship focused story there wasn t enough here to make me care for either of the characters I still don t feel like I really know either of them or their history or their families I could maybeive you a few bullet points about each but not many It took me around 2 hours to read "THIS AND IT S JUST A WHOLE BLUR OF "and it s just a whole blur of I really thought I would love this or at least enjoy it but sadly that was not the
